An ecosystem is a system of relationships where environments are defined by thresholds, filters, and contact surfaces. In these environments, development does not depend on the strength of boundaries, but on their porosity.

The membranes dividing different environments play an essential role: they do not separate to close off, but to regulate exchange, allowing different elements to coexist without canceling each other out.

These are traversable surfaces, capable of distinguishing without isolating.

And it is thanks to these intermediate structures that a collection becomes a habitat.

We started from this idea of habitat to develop the design of this workspace, conceived as a shared ecosystem capable of fostering collaboration, visibility, and autonomy.

We are on the first floor of a large building born in the 1970s as a wholesale headquarters, where a new story now unfolds: that of the marketing office for a major national retail brand. It is the latest chapter in a metamorphosis that has transformed the original building over the years into a contemporary hub of commercial and executive functions.

The caretaker’s apartment, once the silent heart of the activity, thus becomes the company’s new creative headquarters: a place where teamwork and strategic vision find their ideal setting.

The project begins with a strong and simple gesture: the creation of a continuous ribbon window that runs along the facade and brings natural light into the rooms, restoring quality and comfort to the workspaces.

The interior surface is cleared by demolishing the walls and services of the old apartment, and the space is reorganized to accommodate the new function.

The diffused brightness becomes the raw material upon which the entire concept is built: an office for 12 people that is simultaneously unique, open, and yet capable of ensuring privacy.

As in a library, the space is not divided by walls but by systems that organize, separate, and connect.

Custom-designed cabinetry made of birch plywood and lacquered wood. Discreet volumes that mark functions and pathways without ever interrupting the perception of continuity.

Particular attention was paid to acoustic comfort, an essential condition in a shared work environment.

Felt panels integrated into the furniture, high-insulation glass partitions, and a continuous ceiling in mineralized wood fiber create a controlled soundscape, capable of ensuring concentration and well-being.

Thus, even in the most dynamic moments, the space remains balanced and welcoming.

The color palette, inspired by the brand’s identifying colors, is interpreted with lightness and naturalness: warm and neutral tones that allow bolder accents to emerge, in a subtle interplay between corporate identity and design atmosphere.

The result is a bright, fluid, and creative environment, where teamwork and individual work alternate without friction.

A space that becomes an active tool, designed not only to host, but to facilitate processes, relationships, and visions.
